Sensor Signal Processing for Defence (SSPD 2010) is the first annul Conference orginised by the UDRC to be held at Imperial College London, UK from 29-30 September 2010. The purpose of the conference is to provide a public forum for researchers from academia, defence, government and industry to present, exchange ideas and discuss developments in multisensory signal processing.
Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Target detection in in sonar imagery has been widely researched in the past. Yet, the performances achieved are operationally unacceptable for all but the most benign seabed types. Because of the limited resolution of existing imaging sonars and the strong effect of speckle on target scattering, most algorithms have focused on the acoustic shadow casted by the target when illuminated by the sonar. These techniques fail when the seabed is complex (3D texture).
