Imperial College London

Several studentships are available to successful candidates to pursue novel and exciting research for PhD degrees at the newly founded University Defence Research Centre (UDRC) in Signal Processing at Imperial College. Several research areas of signal processing and related fields (e.g., wireless communications, image processing and acoustic communications) will be explored.

The newly founded UDRC is funded by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). By collaboration with MoD and Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), the Centre identifies research directions to meet short and long-term needs for defence related technology in the UK.

Each studentship provides a bursary for three years, initially at £14,300 per year, together with College fees at the UK/EU rate. The openings are thus suitable for UK or European (EU Nationals) students with an honours degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong background in signal processing, data processing or communications is expected. Good analytical and programming skills are desirable. Due to the nature of the defence-related research, UK citizenship is required for some of the positions.
